My name is Cassandra de Jong, and my heart belongs to the Wolastoq. Growing up in the Oromocto area, the river has always been part of my life and my roots here are deep.
I began my journey as a beader on March 1st, 2020, as I searched for something connected to my culture but also something that called out to my soul to help me heal. I have found that in the art of beading. When I bead, it steadies my mind and my heart. I can feel my ancestors with me as I loop through each bead. Hence the name Love Loops. This love I have for it keeps me grounded and the colors keep me free.
Color. It can bring you down, make you uncomfortable and change the feel of a room. It can also lift you up, save your life, inspire, and make some of the most mundane things an item of beauty. Color is my inspiration. I also really love patterns and counting - aaaaand that's a lot of what beading is, lol. I'm inspired by several artists. Please feel free to check out the Other Beautiful Artists page to see their work.
